You Will Make It Through

A few weeks ago, due to a computer error, I was almost evicted from my apartment. I could have lost it all on a random weekday that felt just like any other. The problem was completely resolved in a short period of time, but when I first received the notice, not fully understanding what was happening, my heart stopped.
I couldn’t be more grateful that in the end it was only a small inconvenience, but I spent most of that night an emotional wreck thinking of all the people in my complex that had also received a notice, knowing there was no easy fix for their situation.
I once read a quote that said, “We’re all one phone call, one accident, one moment away from a completely different life.” All night I felt an immense gratitude for my home and for the support system that I have in my family and friends. I also spent it thinking about the single parents trying to raise their children and working endless hours only to come home to the same notice. I thought about all the people receiving bills with that dreaded “Final Notice” stamped on them knowing they don’t have the money to cover it, wondering what else they will have to do without in order to make it by. I thought about everyone suddenly finding themselves in a moment that caused their heart to stop, where the fear of what was happening overwhelmed them and they lost their breath. I wanted to hug every single one of them, knowing a hug couldn’t solve their problems, but maybe help them feel that they didn’t need to carry it all alone.
I don’t know what you’re going through today, maybe you’re struggling with something that feels like it’s never going to end, or maybe you were suddenly hit with news that knocked the wind out of you. Whatever it is, I am so sorry. I wish I could wrap you up in a hug that never ends, and I hope you know that not matter how it feels, you are so much stronger than you have ever believed. You will make it through.
