I Own A Business..

I own a business. Many of you know that, some of you don’t. I am so lucky to say that I own the kind of business I dreamed of before I ever allowed myself to tell anyone that it was a dream of mine. I am lucky, scratch that, I am blessed, I know that. However when I say that I am not referring to the business, I am referring to these three people you see with me in this picture. There are lots of things that happen everyday in small businesses that you never think of when you’re dreaming your dream. Appliances break, landlords ask for more than you can give, sales go down, expenses go up, and sometimes more than you would like, you have to make the decision to pay yourself or pay the employees who work tirelessly in your name. One day you believe with all you are that its all going to work out and the next day something else happens that vaguely feels like a punch in the gut and you’ll wonder if you’ll ever reach a time when it’s easy to breathe everyday. On those days I remember that somehow the universe loved my soul enough to place me with this family. I know I am blessed. I am blessed with a father who never grows annoyed at the constant phone calls he receives about my most recent problem. I am blessed with a mother who has the kind of hug that equally gives you strength and comfort, as you break down into tears. I am blessed with the kind of brother that when you are exhausted, stressed and let’s be honest - straight up bitchy, will turn to you and say “Hey it’s ok, I love you.” I am blessed..and you know what.. So are you. We all have those people in our lives that make every day better, please listen to me as I say - cherish them. Ask them about their day and then listen, watch the movies that they’re interested in, hear the stories they never get tired of telling, read their favorite books just so they have someone to talk about them with. “Thank you” sometimes doesn’t seem enough, it very rarely is..instead choose to be present, choose to always let them know they are loved and you wouldn’t be who you are without them.
